the pencil skirt great buy

Thursday, January 28, 2010

As we have told you one of our basics is a pencil skirt in jersey or cotton in a neutral color of your choice. Pencil skirts sometimes get a bad rap for being uncomfortable and  not flattering but no worries we are here to help! A great buy we have made very recently is at Nordstrom, the Trouve knit pencil skirt for $34.95!

Available at Nordstrom in stores or online.

Check out their leggings too! They feel great and keep everything tight...trust me after babies and the stinking eating at the holidays keeping everything tight is a requirement!

Denim Therapy

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

Reconnect with your favorite jeans!  Denim Therapy will make your old, worn out jeans look brand spankin' new (or practically).  Mail them your jeans and they can repair zippers, ripped hems or belt loops, or even do some hemming.

Our favorite service that they offer is the maternity jeans.  For $60 they will put stretch panels in your existing jeans and take them out at the end of your pregnancy.  Genius!  The only problem is that we got so big toward the end of our pregnancies that our thighs wouldn't have fit into our old jeans if our lives depended on it.  Here's hoping for the next kid...

hemming my way

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Do you ever see these great new products and think to yourself "Why on earth didn't I think of that?" This is one of them! Fans range from Mandy Moore and Melissa George from Grey's Anatomy fame who is also the inventor! Saving money on alterations and allowing you to wear your favorite jeans in a variety of styles and shoes is why this is such a genius invention. It is a hem that attaches to your pant by adhesive and then snaps for different lengths.

To see a demo on how this works visit their site at http://www.hemmingmyway.com/

You can buy this now at Kitson.

help haiti

Sunday, January 24, 2010

At Jilly Moo's, our thoughts and prayers have been with those involved in the devistating earthquake that struck Haiti earlier this month.  In the face of tragedy we admire those who offer not only their money but their time and talents.  If you have been wondering how you can help those in need, you can of course head to your favorite charity (UNICEFF, CARE, Red Cross, etc.) to make a donation.  You can also text "HAITI" to 90999 which will automatically charge $10 to your credit card and goes to the Red Cross.
If you are looking to reap some rewards from your generocity, we offer a few options that you may like.

Naartjie Kids

Saturday, January 23, 2010

Finding wearable, unique and cool clothes for the kiddos that don't make them look like they are already 19 years old is not easy...we are big fans of Gap kids and Baby Gap but we have been on the hunt for something accessible, affordable and different. Enter Naartjie Kids! A designer from South Africa started this line because she wanted her kids to have cool and wearable clothes. With some success here in the States, starting in California, they have grown quite a bit and a store just opened here at Mall of Georgia. (The boys line is great!) It has a great euro feel and so comfy for the little ones!!

J.Crew Shop & Share Event

Friday, January 22, 2010

We have been told by their reps that J.Crew is uping their customer service for 2010 and to prove it, they are having a Shop and Share event Monday, Janurary 25.  You can be the first to see their brand new clothes for Spring before anyone else.  Get up a group of girlfriends (3 or more) and call to set up an appointment.  They will offer their comlimentary personal shopping services if you request them.  If your group spends $125 or more, you will get 20% off your entire purchase!  Unfourtunatly, this is being offered at the Mall of Georgia location only but we encourage you to call your local J.Crew to see if they have any such events coming up.

Preview their Spring 2010 Look Book here.

*Also remember that JCrew ALWAYS offers 15% off to students, so don't forget to bring your student ID when you shop.

gotta wear shades

Thursday, January 21, 2010

With Spring right around the corner our favorite accessory is becoming a neccesity! But beware:  the wrong sunglasses for your face can turn into your WORST accessory...

Paris Hilton

Helen Hunt

A great tip:  figure out the shape of your face and then find frames that are the opposite.

Round faced girls should look for sunglasses with horizontal lines... like rectangular shaped ones that are wide at the temples.

Square  jawed girls need something that softens their angles...something like cat eyes or oval shapes are perfect for this!

Heart shaped faces look great in aviators because it draws your eye away from the forehead. No wide frames!

Oval faced girls can utilmately wear whatever shape they like! (So unfair!!)

What to look for when buying a coat

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Down here in the south we do not have to break out the winter coats often so when it got below 30 degrees here (that is cold for us!!) we needed help in buying a coat. We showed you the puffer which is a great one to wear but doesn't work for everyone. Watch this video by Lucky Magazine, which is a great magazine that we read,  for some great tips!

Zac Posen For Target

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

Fashionistas rejoice!  Target has unveiled yet another designer that they will be featuring: Zac Posen.  We love him for his feminine, fashion foward pieces. With its bold prints, bright colors, and fun flirty dresses, the Target collection doesn't disappoint.  Alas, we will have to wait until April 25 to indulge but here is your sneak peak.

You can also visit Fashionista.com to view the full collection.

do you wash new clothes before you wear them?

Did anyone else see this horribly disturbing report done by GMA (that's Good Morning America - in case you didn't know)?  Apparently clothes that you buy at the store are super filthy and disgusting.  If you are like us, you bring your clothes home and either wear them right away or pop them directly into the closet.  Maybe we are ignorant or just plain lazy - maybe both.  GMA investigators bought up some stuff and had everything tested in a lab (who thinks up these things anyway?).  The results were quite frankly, horrifying.

Of the 14 new items tested for germs, their NYU microbiologist found an alarming number of respiratory secretions and skin and fecal flora (yikes!) on shirts and jackets.  All garments were grossly contaminated with multiple organisms.  He basically likened trying on a new article of clothing to touching a stranger’s armpit or groin.  Ok, is it just us or are you also considering trying on clothes over an undershirt while shopping?

Watch for yourselves.

yummie tummie

Saturday, January 16, 2010

This is one of those finds that every mother out there will love! After having babies we have noticed as hard as we work in the gym the "mommy belly" is ever present. A great pair of fitting skinny jeans can be completley ruined by the muffin top...

Yikes!

Enter Yummie Tummie! Tanks and shirts that smooth your sides and keep you tight and looking slim. We love it!!! They are made to be layered,  not worn alone. Check out their most popular...

Beware... these can be pricey but will last a long time and may become a necessity in your wardrobe!

10 Ways To Wear A Cardigan

Friday, January 15, 2010

We love a good cardigan. No, we seriously love love love a cardigan. What's better, warmer or more importantly, easier to just toss one on over your clothes and go? They are the perfect layering item for all seasons.  Here are some of our favorite ways to wear them.

1.) Try one over shorts with the sleeves pushed up... or a short sleeved one!

2.) Layer it over a dress of the same length

3.) Pair it with a flared skirt for a retro vibe

4.) Wear a longer one as a coat

5.) Belt it
6.) Pair it with wide leg trousers for a casual work friendly look - keep the cardigan somewhat tight.  Baggy on baggy is never flattering.

7.) Button it up

8.) Layer two for extra warmth

9.) Try a longer one over leggings with boots

10.) Go all out preppy a 'la Blair Waldorf and pair your buttoned up one with a pencil skirt, a button down and oxfords - tie optional.
