Nautical stripes are a trend that is not going away and as the summer gets closer to an end and we get closer to fall, stripes is one of the best trends that will transition right into the new season.  So embrace your sailor (well not literally) and try out these looks for that transition.  Here are a few celebs that got it right!

Tips on How to Wear:

DO be conscience of where the stripes fall.  They tend to expand certain areas.

DO pair with a solid cardigan, shrug or blazer for the fall.

DO wear with a trouser pant and clog.

DON'T lose your silhouette.  Use a belt to cinch your waist.  Try an oversized shirt and a rope or a brown belt.

DON'T be scared to go past the striped shirt.  Try a great dress as well!  We are loving the ones at GAP right now.

Right now we are digging exposed zippers.  They give a tough edge to an otherwise sweet article of clothing.  Look for them in unexpected spots such as up the back of a shirt or dress, on the pocket or trim of a tank, or even an exposed zipper on shorts.

We told you about the rising popularity of the oxford shoe at the beginning of the spring and they can now be found in so many forms.  Now we have seen them in all colors and most recently, cutout oxfords.  If you don't think you can do this trend, check out these celebs who are embracing their oxfords, even in the warmer months.

We love this look Sienna Miller is wearing!  Such a fresh, youthful, flirty take on the oxford.

Veronica Webb is proof that all ages can rock this look!  You just have to make it your own.

Olivia Palermo and Emma Watson mix it up a little bit with their off the wall colors.

what men want (and don't want)

We dress for ourselves but sometimes we do take our hubby's opinions into consideration (although we most often ignore them).  Regardless, it's nice to know what men like and don't like.  As always, Jilly Moo's is here to keep you in the know!  Here are some of the most common things that men told us that they love to see you in and what they think needs to be tossed out of your closets.  Take it with a grain of salt and do with it what you will ladies.

Any Clothes That Are Too Trendy/Tight/Too Young for You to Be Wearing

The Summery:  Whatever you like or is comfortable, men hate.  Doesn't that figure?  In general, guys were letting us know that they aren't feeling anything too trendy or out there.  They like the basics.  They want us to be comfortable (just not past the line of comfortable and into slouchy territory).  We can live with that.  

you can do: dressy shorts

We have loved the dressy short as a skirt alternative for several years now, so we are please that they have made it to the mainstream.  They are becoming so popular that you can find them at all price-points and you can wear them for all different occasions.  A classic black Bermuda short can even be worn to the office.  Check out our do's and don'ts.  

Do go super fancy like Gywnetth did in her silver blazer-shorts combo or do a more casual look in a flowing top.  A red carpet look (just in case you need one) or an outfit you can wear to dinner.  One thing never changes:  these look best in heals!

Do pair yours with a patterned top like Lauren Conrad.  If the top is flowy, tuck it in for the most flattering look.  Pleated shorts like LC can even look great with a looser top as long as the shorts are still fairly fitted and the shoes are tall.  Something to keep in mind with pleats:  they do add bulk.  If this is something you are concerned with, skip the pleats and go for a flat front.

Do wear straight, black, mid length shorts in a nice fabric (cheep black fabric looks shiny and cheep so don't skimp on these).  They are the gold standard of the dressy shorts.  They will take you anywhere:  to the office (keep the length longer like Natalie Portman), to dinner, or to a party.  You can't go wrong with these.

Don't wear baggy Bermudas or you could look wider than you are and not as dressy as you want to be, like Kristen Bell.  Keep your Bermuda shorts fitted for the most flattering look.

Don't go too complicated or too trendy.  We aren't sure what is going on here with Fergie but we aren't feeling it.  Keep it simple and classic.  A fun top is all you need.  Too much pattern is too overwhelming and too many trends will make you look like a fashion victim.

Don't wear your shorts too short or too tight.  Fit is especially important when it comes to dressy shorts.  Booty shorts look cheep as do ones that pull across the front like Blake Livey's do.  For dressy shorts we prefer a straight, classic Bermuda short or a trendy, baggier mid-length short.

The higher the heel the closer to God!

There are so many celeb styles that we love and we love the ones behind them styling them too!  Stacy London knows style and we are big fans of What Not to Wear.  Here is a video that she shares what celebs are donning on their feet!

the little white dress

Put your little black dresses in the backs of your closets ladies because the little white dress is taking over!  Celebrities have been spotted all over wearing them and they are perfect for summer.  Casual or dressy; anything goes with these!

White dresses look great dressed up.  How old Hollywood does Kate Bosworth look?  A shiny bag and heals make it even more fancy (we give you permission to leave your fur at home).  Just remember, no white dresses at weddings unless your are the bride!  You know this, right?

Taking things from your hubby/boyfriend's closet is a huge trend although we don't generally condone literally doing this.  Instead take a cue from Vanessa Hudgens and wear a white shirt dress.  Add a belt to give it some shape.  In a more conservative shape, this can be a great office look.

White dresses look just as great dressed down.  A pair of flat sandals, a hobo bag and scarf (or other accessory of your choice) are all you need!  So easy and so summer!

One of the great things about a white dress is that it gives you a blank slate to work with.  You can choose to go the neural route with black or nude or you can add pops of color in your shoes and accessories.  Check out Cameron Diaz adding color with a red belt and heals.  

Nobody does it like Carrie Bradshaw!  She takes a fairly simple jersey dress and adds her Louboutins and mirrored sunglasses which make it so Carrie.  This is a great example of how you can make a piece your own.  This dress would also look fabulous worn casually but we have to pay our respects to Ms. Bradshaw (or Preston now).
